Swanky Jerry’s styling was such a hit for me at the Met Gala, that I decided to tap the Swankiest Stylist yet again for the 2025 BET Awards:
As is our way, Jerry did not arrive until the morning of the event with a custom creation by Emagine by Bukola in hand:
This was definitely a risk…!
I had no plan B and 100% put my faith into Jerry’s hands for my first time walking the Red Carpet at the BET Awards (I have attended before).
You know what? There are two times I haven’t read the comments on posts, and this was one of those times (the other time was when I wore a body hugging gown to the Ebony Power 100 Gala). Before leaving, all my stylist friends and college chums were QUIET. Kinda like, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.”
THEN my mom called me the next day (of course!!!!) and she told me I made someone’s worst dressed list on some random channel she watched on YouTube.
All that to say, Nickky C Bell, who is my favorite red carpet commentator gave me a “Wow!“–I’ll take it. I’m just going to live in my ignorant bliss, but my recommendation for anyone going to any event: if you have time, make sure you have many options, give your input on the sketch, and choose the best one. Don’t leave it to chance.
I’ve learned my lesson (as I’ve learned many red carpet lessons this year), and am committed to continuing to flourish and thrive in my new role as Red Carpet Starlet on the rise.
