So the other day, I attended my very first Gala for the Studio Museum in Harlem!

This Scallop Salad was Bangin’
The truth is: I waited til last minute to get the dress I really wanted, and it ended up not being available (fingers crossed it becomes available soon!). At any rate, I decided to improvise in a white tuxedo and sequined top from Topshop:

It’s been done before! Think Rihanna in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2009 Met Gala…
Helen Lasichanh at the 2014 Oscars…
Anna Dello Russo in McQueen and an Alan Journo Hat at the 2011 Met Gala…
Janelle Monae at…anything…
See where I was going?
At any rate, it was a risk. Either way, I’ll live to dress another day;)
I was so entrenched in just observing and enjoying the moment, that I didn’t take many pictures inside, though I did snap a pic with Steve McQueen of 12 Years a Slave.
He said, “You must love Lupita.” I was like, “You have no idea…!”
At any rate, as I mentioned here, I’ve been invited to the Ebony 100 Gala on November 19th in LA (I’m on their Power 100 list this year! Woot!). I can’t wait.
Stay tuned for my recap!
xoxo
