Claire’s Life: Inside the Style Zone at Indiana Black Expo Wearing Haitian Brand Atelier Ndgo

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of traveling to Indianapolis to cover the Style Zone at the iconic Indiana Black Expo. With the WNBA All-Star Weekend as its backdrop, the city was buzzing with energy and fashion.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to interview several incredible personalities, including celebrities like Holly Robinson Peete, the gentleman of Delivering Smiles, and the brilliant designer and entrepreneur Nikki Blaine, founder of Nikki Blaine Couture and Nicole Rene, curator of the Style Zone.

One of the standout moments was a dynamic runway presentation hosted by Indiana Black Expo, where designers like Nikki Blaine, Bruce Glen, Velame Fashions, and more showcased a lineup of embellished looks full of texture, structure, and flair. From voluminous sleeves to intricate appliqué details, each design brought high-fashion drama to the catwalk.

For day 1, I wore a bold green dress by Atelier Ndgo. The off-the-shoulder silhouette and exaggerated sleeves gave the look volume and strength, while the pleated texture added movement and dimension. It played well against my new red hair from Becky with the Good Hair!

For Day 2, I switched into a vibrant pink ensemble, also by Atelier Ndgo. The fitted top and sculptural rope fringe skirt created a playful yet powerful aesthetic that turned heads and made a major impact. Both looks were rooted in creativity and aligned with the spirit of celebration that defined the Style Zone experience.

It was a fun time! Now it’s time to prepare for the Bomb Fashion Show.

Thanks to everyone who came by to say hi, including these young designers who designed their own dresses! So adorable!
