Bomb Life 101: Make Specific Goals and Write Them Down + 5 Motivational Must Read Books

As the New Year swiftly approaches, it’s high time to reflect back on the past 365 days and also plan for the next fabulous year!
I was perusing an article on Backstage.com, where I stumbled upon a paragraph that truly spoke to me.
goals
The author says, “In 1979, a study was conducted on the Harvard MBA program. Graduate students were asked if they had set clear, written goals for the future. The result was that 3 percent had written goals, 13 percent had goals that weren’t in writing, and 84 percent had no goals. Ten years later, the same group was interviewed and the results are telling. The 13 percent who had goals but did not record them were earning double the amount of the 84 percent who had no goals. And the 3 percent who had clear, written goals were making 10 times as much as the other 97 percent combined. So between my doomed ants and those Harvard grads, there are two lessons to be learned here: First, you need specific goals if you want to succeed. And second, writing down those goals will help keep you focused.”

My goals in 2011 were to get out of credit card debt, be on TV, take Fashion Bomb to the next level, and more. My handwriting is atrocious.

My New Years Resolutions for 2012 were to get out of credit card debt, be on TV, take Fashion Bomb to the next level, Travel to 5 New Countries, and more. My handwriting is atrocious!!!

You’d be surprised how many people don’t make goals. Some people even get irritated or offended when asked to define what they want out of life. But in the short time I’ve been on this earth, I’ve learned that if you don’t have goals, you can’t score.

Me on TV in April 2014. Sometimes it takes you longer than you think, but you’ll get there.

If, say, you want to be rich, don’t just say, “I want plenty of money.” For some people $100,000 is enough, and for others, $10 million is barely scraping by. Figure out how much you want out of life, and believe you can have it. Have faith that you’ll find a way to get there. And once you’ve accomplished your goal…make a new one.

Consider these suggestions an early Christmas present!
And know that you can have the knowledge, but you must apply it. Be able to define your goals and say what specifically you want to accomplish by, say, 2016, in 3-5 sentences. It can be difficult, so put some thought into it!

My goal is to hand the reigns of Fashion Bomb Daily over to a brilliant Editor so I can continue to pursue TV, books, and special projects. The Bomb Life is a lifestyle of luxury that I want to totally embody. Think yachts, champagne, exotic vacations, fashion, and unfettered fun.

Of course I have a specific amount I want to make as well, of which my close friends are aware. It’s crazy how your friends will sometimes repeat your goals back to you, further cementing the possibility of achieving them! Great friends will follow up with you, to see if you’ve made any moves towards your dreams.

Before I moved to Paris, I told everyone I wanted to go, but with job prospects looking dim, I’d kinda put my dream to the side. My friend’s husband asked me about it one day, and suggested I just pick up and move. And I did!

At any rate, feel free to share your goals below. It’s a fun exercise.
And remember, the sky is literally the limit. Don’t limit yourself to what’s realistic. Set crazy goals, write them down, tell people you trust about them, and watch magic happen.
