So I used to be that chick. You know…that chick at New York Fashion Week who would go, armed with a digital camera, taking selfies with every star in sight. Facebook reminded me of that girl yesterday with this throwback picture of Brad Goreski and I from 2008.
It made me think of all the other celebs I smized with during NYFW, like Kim Kardashian, who posed for this shot in 2009.
I would like to do a praise dance for evolution on both of our parts! Kim was doing the most with whispy lashes, white liner on her waterline, and bright red lips. While I was doing…Lord knows what. Dark hair, casket fresh makeup, no lip. #Facepalm.
At any rate, I’m penning this Throwback Thursday at the end of another storied but successful New York Fashion Week to illustrate that we all started somewhere (and thanks to my digital camera, I have all the pictures to prove it!). Things weren’t always as fabulous as they seem on Instagram! And we’ve all been at this a long time.
Be patient and trust your journey. If you keep showing up (and showing out…in your own way), you will climb day by day, month by month, and year by year.
Be persistent and consistent. Continue to evolve your look and what you offer to the world.
And then one day small bombs start going off…giving you signs that you are definitely on your way…!
Love + Light!
