So this weekend, I had a DELICIOUS dinner at a restaurant called FishCheeks* (if you’re in New York, drop everything and go NOW. It is Bomb). For the night, I was meeting Bruce Glen, whose designs are in FashionBombDailyShop.com. Of course I wanted to represent for them, so I built a whole look around their $395 Sparkly Pochette Bag:

I wore a Shane Justin shirt, Gucci shades and sandals, and a Zara skirt.

While in Fishcheeks, Vera Wang told me she found a similar shirt at Prada. A Crystal Prada top with almost as much fabric costs $3,850, while I’m sure my Shane Justin shirt cost no more than $200. While in the bathroom at my next location, a young lady showed me an almost identical purse to mine from Alexander Wang. While a Wang bag is $695, Bruce Glen’s bag is $395.
I don’t see a $300 difference, do you?
So often I see celebrities invest tens of thousands of dollars on items not because it’s superior quality or because of superior design, but because of a name. And as consumers have more and more options, I hope more of you will be more discerning and not fall for the okey doke. Besides most of the brands that everyone covets that charge exorbitant prices carry the names of people who are deceased (Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Fendi, Dior, need I go on)? Why not breathe life into some new talent?

What do you think?
Love & Light,

*At Fishcheeks, get the Crab Fried Rice, Coconut Crab Curry, and the Chicken Wings! My friend also recommended the Branzino, Tiger Prawn Karee, the Pork and Noodles Dish.
