It’s the day before NYFW, but not really! I have 3 shows tonight and an event happening next week. But I couldn’t let another day pass before recounting my experience at the 3rd annual 15 percent pledge gala!
I have attended every Gala since its inception, and every year, I wear a designer from FashionBombDailyShop.com. Matopeda is a Nigerian designer who specializes in wedding gowns. She creates custom, hand beaded creations and ships them via DHL express using your measurements. She’s is masterfully talented, a woman of GOD, and I am honored to wear her designs (as long as she’ll have me!).
I accessorized with Jessica Rich sandals, and my normal diamond jewelry. I never was much of an accessories girl!
Started by Aurora James and Emma Grede, the 15 Percent Pledge encourages major retailers to reserve 15% of their shelf space for black owned brands, while also giving grants to small black owned businesses. With a dress code calling Black Tie, Black Designer, the Gala welcomes all the finest from the community, dipped in head turning looks by brands like Christopher John Rogers, Sergio Hudson, Hanifa, Laquan Smith, and more. Take a look at some of the gala’s stylish guests, including Yvonne Orji, Robin Thede, Taran Burke, Kelly Rowland, Jordyn Woods, Elizabeth Woods, Jenee Naylor, and more!
Co-Founders Aurora James and Emma Grede are doing amazing work, and I am always going to support!

It was a great time, and bonus, my pix were on Vogue! Squeal!
I actually wore something from my closet this year as I heard about it somewhat last minute! But please believe next year I’ll be coming through guns a blazing haha.
What do you think?
