Can I Testify? Cocktails with Claire x Miss Diddy Chicago in a Sergio Hudson Pink Top, Pants, and a Borsalino Hat

I was thinking long and hard about how I was going to recap Cocktails with Claire x Miss Diddy LA Chicago for TheBombLife.com. Of course on Fashion Bomb Daily, I recounted who was there, what we did, and uploaded 70+ pix! But it doesn’t quite capture how special the event was to me!

To say I was doubtful about Chicago would be an understatement. The Monday prior to the event, we only had 40 RSVPs for a cavernous venue. Because Chi-Town was unchartered territory, I commissioned the services of powerhouse publicist Catrice Armstrong, who assured me everything was going to be alright (cue Ariana Grande’s song Be Alright, which I can’t stop listening to!!).

Even up until a day before, things were looking bleak. Bad weather in Chicago caused flights to be delayed or canceled. My event planner, Lauren, and our staff photographer, Pierre, were stuck in the airport for 5 hours, and unsure if they would make it there. We were looking at event insurance in case we needed to cancel! Our moderator, Luvvie, was caught up in the airline drama, and couldn’t make the event. Things just seemed to keep going wrong! But then, on Saturday, the sun came out, and GOD said it was alllll good.



Do you see that?!? Not only was the weather beautiful, but dozens of Bombshells also came out to show love. We snapped selfies, chatted, and exchanged ideas. Many remarked, “Thank you for not forgetting Chicago!”





With all the adversity we faced, we persevered, and we had a wonderful time!

I guess my testimony is simple and a bit cliché: Pray. Do everything in your power you can to make whatever you do successful. Pray some more. Then give it to GOD.

I’d add in: believe in yourself. Also: don’t be afraid to try new things. It would’ve been easy for Miss Diddy and I to stick to New York, LA, and Atlanta! But we ventured out, and it was worth it! I got so many great ideas and motivation to try new things because of Bombshells I encountered. If I inspire you in any way, you inspire me! And that’s real.

I met so many ambitious, enterprising women who are stepping out and doing it themselves. And doing it well. Our potential is endless, if only we have the courage to tap into it.
