With a bit of trepidation, and with some encouragement from my photographer, Pierre, I posted pix of me in a bikini on FashionBombDaily.com.
Yep, that’s me in an Andrea Iyamah Kandu swimsuit and a beach cape I am 100% obsessed with. We all need to wear a swimsuit to the beach, so why not make it fabulous?
Though I was feeling good about myself, I’m not gonna look at the comments on this one. People have already written in talking about me getting a breast reduction (I’m aware I have big boobs, see my post here). And I can already hear the trolls calling me obese or something or other, similar to a few comments I received last year.
What can I say? The pressure on someone in the public eye is considerable. If you’re not careful, you start to believe and feed into the negativity. It’s no surprise that so many in Hollywood have some fake something: fake butt, fake boobs, lipo, lip injections, the list goes on. As my profile has grown, I can’t say the idea of a nip/tuck isn’t tempting. But aside from not being able to afford it, I wonder: is it really worth it? What’s wrong with being healthy, working out, eating well, and just loving whatever you have going on?
So even if I get slaughtered today, it’s all good. Hopefully I can encourage someone out there who’s not stick thin to embrace their body and heck, maybe even show off a little;)
What do you think?
