While perusing a few of my fave profile pix, I noticed there were quite a lot of items I’ve gotten lots of use out of.
I think it’s always important to mix high and low, but if you’re going to splurge, you’ll get the most bang for your buck with the following:
1. Hermes Belts
I don’t really wear belts, but when I do slip on a pair of jeans, an Hermes belt adds a nice luxurious touch. I purchased one from the Hermes store a few years back, and it’s been love ever since. The belts come with a black and brown side so you can wear it with anything. I purchased the silver buckle initially, then scored a gold buckle from a vintage store so I could wear the belt with absolutely everything!
No lie. I’m pretty sure the belt cost about $1,000 if not a bit more. But, if you plan to wear it for several years, and it’s the main belt you wear, why not invest?
2. Givenchy Nightingale Bag or Any Other Black Leather Tote
My Givenchy Nightingale purse was my first ‘splurge’ bag purchase. I scored it for $2,000 at Barney’s, though I know now that you can find the bag at Bluefly.com and lots of discount sites for less. THAT SAID I have worn this bag into the ground, and it still looks great!
It is my default, ‘throw everything in the bag’ bag and my most faithful carry on when I travel.
What I love the most about it is that it zips up top, so you don’t have to worry about anything falling out (as you would with a Céline, Hermes, or a McCartney, which only snaps up top). It is secure, fly, and fashionable!
3. Christian Louboutin So Kate Pumps in Nude or Black
Ok, it’s no secret: Louboutin shoes hurt! If you stand in them too long, you will feel as if your toenails are bleeding. That said…there isn’t a prettier or more versatile pump in the market (save Jimmy Choo Abel pumps–maybe).
Suck it up and wear the dern pumps! They look great and go with everything in your wardrobe. And at $675, they’re a splurge, but not so unattainable that you can’t save up for a few months and purchase.
Just be sure to put some flats in your bag;)
4. Stuart Weitzman Nudist Sandals
Behold, another classic heel. These are a bit newer, making their debut a season or two ago, but the simple construction makes them a wardrobe staple.
Get them in black, nude, or whatever fits your fancy. They’ll run you about $400, but: they’re actually sorta comfortable. I was able to stand basically all day for a Home Goods shoot in these puppies.
I got mine last summer, wore them all year, and will wear them this summer. Worth it? I think so!
5. Stunner Shades
What sunglasses you purchase are up to you. I have a soft spot for Céline. But let me tell you. Sunglasses and lipstick are a good default if you are feeling lazy on the weekend.
Also, sunglasses are that last touch that can really upgrade an outfit. I can’t get enough. My fave brands include Céline, Tom Ford, and Ray Ban.
What about you?
Obviously, once you invest, you’re good! And the great thing is that you can always resell your items for pretty much the same price when you’re done, if you so choose…but I guarantee once you buy these, you’ll never let ’em go/wear ’em so much that they can’t resell for much! Lol.
What do you think?
What are some worthy wardrobe investments in your opinion?

Case in point: me wearing my Hermes belt, Givenchy bag, and Louboutin pumps. And yelling about something. At any rate, I really do wear them all the time!
