Ok, so I’ll admit: Bae is now my business partner.
He has taught me so much about establishing the BUSINESS part of the Fashion Bomb Daily brand. I’ve been encouraging him to start a website (which he will do soon), but until then, I’m poaching his ideas;)
One very important thing he’s taught me: The importance of picking up the phone.
I’ll admit it: I love to write my thoughts (duh). So when communicating with most people, an e-mail or text suffices. I rarely talk on the phone unless it’s my mom, good friend, or boyfriend. I don’t MIND the phone, but text is my happy space.
Today, The Fashion Bomb Daily team had its first conference call and I realized that there were people on staff that I’d literally never spoken to! And hearing people’s thoughts, opinions, and concerns in addition to their accents and personalities brought joy to my heart!
Also, so much can get lost in translation with an e-mail, for example. You never know what someone means by an ellipses. You can spend hours going back and forth over a miscommunication. At the end of the day: pick up the phone! It’s old school, but saves time, and adds a human touch in this age of all digital everything.
I’m proud to say that the FBD team will now be having weekly phone calls to discuss expectations and upcoming events. It’s a way to get organized and also really get involved in people’s lives. It’s business, but at the end of the day, we are human. You can’t forget that in your interactions.
Never forget the importance of a phone call!
