So I gotta admit: I am super lazy when it comes to planning out what to do on a trip! If it were up to me, I’d probably spend most of my vacation time sleeping, hitting the beach, and luxuriating!
Thankfully my sister is the complete opposite. She is all up in the guide books, knows the must sees, and is great at planning excursions. Everyone needs someone like her in a group when they travel!
Thus, she coordinated us going to see Cristo Redentor or the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio:
We bought our tickets online in advance (R $56 or $18 USD). Even though we originally booked our tickets to go the day before, plans changed because of the rain. We took an Uber to the train (about R$32 or $10 USD), then just showed them our ticket confirmation. It was super easy to switch times, and head up to see Jesus.
I’d recommend going as early as you can, because it gets crowded. Of course everyone wants to take a picture with the iconic statue (with their hands out to the side), but doing so can prove difficult, given the crush. My sisters and I did our best, and even got creative with it (check out the statue in my reflective Jembere lenses).
After spending some time with Christ, we caught a cab to Parque Lage (R. Jardim Botânico, 414 – Jardim Botânico, Rio de Janeiro – RJ, 22461-000 (21) 3257-1800), which is a gorgeous park with stunning views. Check out my mini photo shoot:
Amazing, no?
My sisters and I bought sandwiches and beer from a food cart nearby, then sat in the park and ate. It was magical.
Though the plan afterwards was to head home, rest for a bit, then head to Sugarloaf mountain for Sunset, we all lost steam as soon as we got back to our apartment. So we invited a few friends over for beers, pizza, and games of taboo.
For daytime, I kept my look breezy in Rag & Bone shorts, a BCBG sheer top, and silver accents, including Amina Abdul Jillil coin flats.
I switched into my Givenchy heels for our night of revelry, though we didn’t leave our apartment;)
A tad scandalous? Yes! But when in Brazil…
What do you think?
