Claire’s Life: Wearing a Purple and Green MSO Lagos to the Met Gala Press Preview

Ahead of the 2026 Met Gala, I attended the official press preview wearing a sculptural look by MSO Lagos that immediately caught my eye for its dramatic proportions and editorial shape.

The dress featured a fitted plum bodice with an oversized floral shoulder detail and a voluminous emerald green bubble skirt with a cascading train. Given this year’s conversation around fashion as art and the body as canvas, the silhouette felt fitting for the occasion. I paired the look with pointed red pumps and a cream clutch for the event itself, adding a sharp pop of color against the rich jewel tones.

For photos, however, the team preferred black shoes to keep the focus on the architecture of the garment, so I shot the official images that way. It was interesting to see how much the shoe choice changed the mood of the look entirely—red brought energy and contrast, while black made everything feel more streamlined and sculptural.

One thing I appreciated most about the design was its ability to command attention without relying on embellishment. The volume, color story, and construction did all the work.

As fashion continues to move toward more expressive silhouettes and artistic presentation, this felt like the perfect look to wear while previewing one of the industry’s biggest nights.

What do you think? Which shoe color is more your style?
