I’m using my Juneteenth Holiday to catch up on posts. How about you?
In between trips to DC and Atlanta (can y’all tell I am never home?), I stopped by NYC to check out venues for the Bomb Fashion Show! My friend Emil Wilbekin invited me to his annual Native Son Awards, which recognizes icons in the black queer community. I decided to show up and show my support!
About the awards, Emil says, “We are all unicorns. We are all gifted, brilliant, beautiful, creative , and highly functional. We work hard and have dreams and aspirations. When we’re all together celebrating each other we can be more powerful and create a legacy for the next generation.”
A lot of my faves were in the room, including Law Roach, Laquan Smith, and Chris Chambers, who all either gave away or received awards that night.
I also grabbed pix with the stars in the room, including Don Lemon, Lena Waithe, Jahleel Weaver, Dr. Bobbi, Jackie Cooper, Ty Hunter, Joan Smalls, Jerome Lamaar, and so many more!
For the evening, I wore a Fashion Nova Regina Sequin Dress.
Don’t sleep on Fashion Nova, y’all! I was getting compliments all night!
I am headed back to LA tomorrow, but will be back on the road again in five days! Hopefully things will slow down a bit towards the end of the summer. For now, I am enjoying the ride…!
