So this past weekend, I was invited to my first Art for Life Gala!
I’ve lived in New York for almost 10 years, and every time I hear about the event, I wonder: when am I gonna attend? The time came this past Saturday, as I made my way to the Hamptons for the annual star studded soirée.
The Dress Code called for a Roaring Twenties theme, so I dug in my closet for a beaded All Saint Dress I’ve had FOREVER.
I actually wore this dress in 2012 for my first TV appearance on BET’s Rip the Runway.
Hold your nose as I post this archived pic:
OK, let’s dive in, shall we? My makeup, what? The shoes, huh? At any rate, thank the good lord for evolution. And hello! I’m basically the same size I was 3 years ago. Little fact about me: I basically never gain or lose weight, but I guess as I get more publicity, I get more people with opinions about my body. When I first posted the pic in 2012, I had comments like, “You look fab, Claire!!!! LOVE your outfit choice, from the very top to the bottom – gorge!!! Omg, cant wait for the show to air!!! I watch RTR every year!!!!” “You ‘re So Amazing Claire!Really Like your New Hair colour it’s so beautiful” and “Claire you look amazing! I love your ensemble and look forward to seeing this show :-)”. I’m not lying! See it here. But today, after posting a pretty thorough rundown, the first comment I received was, “Sorry but you look like you’re pregnant in that dress.”
Guys, what happened? I thought we were cool!
ANYWHO, I thought curls were very 1920’s, so threw some rods in my ‘do.
Crystal earrings and my 1920’s chic look was complete!
At any rate, whether I look prego or naw, I had a blast, and I can’t wait to do it up again next year.
There was some pretty amazing style in the building!
Check it out here!
What do you think?
