It’s 12:30 and I’m pooped!
For the past 3 (4?) hours, I’ve been sifting through over 300 applications for the Fashion Bomb Daily internship!
From 300, I whittled it down to 50, then down to 10 (which is still way too many, but people are just that good!). I wish I could hire you all.
At any rate, after all that analyzing, thinking, and pontificating, this post is 100% mindless. Absolutely no brain cells involved (thank GOD!).
Last week, I had a meeting at one of my favorite Soho haunts, the Crosby Street Hotel. I tend to go for casually glam for those non event days, so wore my Zara boyfriend jeans, a ribbed tank, and a vintage Issey Miyake vest I scored in Paris.
I’ll never forget buying this vest. It was several years ago during Paris Fashion Week, before I’d hit my style stride. Usually, if you’re a journalist who does the whole New York, London, Milan, Paris circuit, you’ve totally run out of clean clothes by the time you’ve reached Paris. I was feeling très unchic one day at a café in the Marais, and ran into Jason Campbell (of JCReport fame), who must’ve sensed my woe. After chatting, we ended up skipping all our afternoon shows to go shopping! He took me to all these great thrift and discount places (wish I could remember their names now), and taught me how to find classic, designer, vintage pieces. Years later, this Issey Miyake pleated piece is still one of my faves. You can wear it as a double breasted dress or as a long vest, as displayed here.
I bought so many great things I wear to this day during that shopping trip, including my bedazzled Chloé blazer (which also goes so well with my Zara boyfriend jeans!).
That memory always warms my heart–can’t wait to go back to Paris to shop it up some more!
Until then, thoughts on my afternoon ensemble?
