Happy Sunday!
I just returned from a whirlwind trip to LA to attend the 9th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon!
This year was my third time in attendance, and it was as magical this year as it was in previous years. The ceremony is basically a must for any woman of color of distinction in the worlds of arts and entertainment. I was humbled to be invited as an ambassador for Colgate Optic White!
My task was to stand in the press line and interview celebrities, but I eventually stepped over the velvet rope to take pictures and chat it up with Fashion Bomb faves.
Zendaya is always lovely to see! She threw kisses in Thakoon polka dots.
Letoya Luckett professed her love for Fashion Bomb Daily in a white jumpsuit.
Kelly Rowland smiled for our camera in a white sleeveless top and mustard pants.
Shaniece Hairston was bomb in black and white Mugler.
Lastly, Lala was lovely in Victoria Beckham.
I wore a Nigerian Flag inspired dress I scored in Lagos from TNL Designs, along with Versace sandals. Versace sandals hurt! If you ever plan to purchase, note, they are for sitting ONLY!
Inside, I was sitting 2 inches from Oprah and because I’m a scaredy cat, I waited and hesitated too long to get her picture. If you watch the Awards on OWN, you’ll catch glimpses of me sitting by her. I am 100% obsessed with Oprah (who isn’t?), but I made myself feel better by chalking it up to timing. When I meet Oprah, I want to sit down and talk to her, pick her brain, ask for advice, not run after her and dodge her security guards for a selfie in a crush of people. I will sit down with Oprah one day!
