She Who Dares Style Diary: A Byron Lars Crawford Knit Sheath Dress and Tom Ford Padlock Pumps

A few days ago, I attended a talk called ‘She Who Dares,’ hosted by Colorcomm, an organization for women of color in communications.

For the event, I slipped on a Crawford Knit Sheath Dress by Byron Lars, Tom Ford Padlock pumps, and Oscar de la Renta earrings.

While the panelists had lots of wisdom to impart on how to be daring in your career, their musings on Success were the most salient to me. Someone asked, “What do you do when you get the job of your dreams, and then you realize that you’re not exactly fulfilled?” Tai quoted one of her mentors, who suggested we shift our understanding of success and change our perspective on how we think about our careers.

Instead of thinking of success as a destination, look at is as continual progress. Years ago, I would’ve gagged if you told me I could make a living from doing what I love. But as with everything, your dream gig can eventually feel more like work than play. You feel frustrated, and are looking to evolve. I think I’m at that point!
