I do photo shoots all the time. ALL THE TIME. But today’s shoot for my book cover has me feeling butterflies.
When I spoke with my book coach, Tony Gaskins, we explored different options for a cover design. At first I wasn’t going to have my face on the cover (sometimes if you want your book to appeal to a crossover audience, you leave your mug off the front). But when I received the draft below, I felt something was missing: Me!
So I’m doing a shoot, down here in Atlanta. Though I’ve traveled far and wide, some of the best talent is in the South! Derek Blanks will be taking photos and shooting BTS; Latasha Wright will be doing makeup. I”ll be looking angelic in all white!
I think what is the most nerve wracking is that this book is basically a tell all. All the things you don’t see here…all the drama, romance, intrigue, whatever I don’t discuss is going to be in the book. Available to millions. I’m totally vulnerable. And as an artist, I’m sensitive about my sh*t. But there’s no turning back now…
It’s my turn.
