Bomb Life 101: A Note About Evolution

Last week, I was saddened to discover that one of my blogging buddies, Necole Bitchie, had decided to call it quits. I’d looked up to Necole for years; she put me ‘on’ back in the day when I’d written fashion for her site. She was always open to offering advice and counsel, which was and still is a rarity in this industry.

While I was disheartened that she’d no longer be in the game, I 100% understood where she was coming from! Blogging is a GRIND. There are no days off. You feel as if you miss one day or one picture, you’ll have fallen off. There’s no way you can, say…have a spa day or relax with your friends on the night of any awards show or high wattage red carpet event. You are in some ways a slave to the red carpet and to the whims of any celeb you can think of (if you blog about celeb related topics). It’s tough–and I wish Necole the very best!

Her post made me think about evolution of my brand and evolution in general. I’m definitely ready for something different.

The plan is to build the Fashion Bomb into a media enterprise. Hire someone who still has the energy to cover all those must see events. And step out into TV, books, publishing, you name it.

As with all change, taking that step is uncomfortable! Though you’re aching to do something different, you still don’t quite know how your new life or new way of doing things is going to feel. I always reference my time in Paris when I plan to embark on foreign territory. For my first few days in France, I spent time aimlessly walking around, drinking coffee in bistros, and writing in my journal. I didn’t have a routine, everything was fresh, and I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself. But I eventually found my footing.

My new venture isn’t in motion just yet. Perhaps this post is simply speaking it into existence. But as Heraclitus once said, “The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change.”
