I normally don’t share these types of tales, but today was so surreal, I had to write it down!
So basically, I’ve been sick. I had some undercooked meat at a party, and what I thought was a hangover has blossomed into 3 days of me sitting in bed, running back and forth to the bathroom, and barely eating anything (which is SO unlike me). But, I’m in Milan, and was invited to the Calvin Klein show…so I told myself that even though I’m still feeling pretty sick, I would TRY to go.
I planned to wear this Esteban Cortazar dress, keeping within the minimalist, architectural lines of the brand.
Though the dress looks simple enough, it’s a two person project. There’s a bra underneath that needs to be snapped, and it usually takes two people to zip it up. It was just me! With rivulets of sweat dripping down my forehead, I was able to finagle the bra part, but simply couldn’t zip the dress up by myself…and the clock was ticking. So I had my friend call a car (because there were no Ubers available), and hoped the taxi driver would help me zip the dress up.
Thankfully he did. I ignored all the strange stares on the street, had said taxi driver zip me up nicely, and gleefully hopped in the car! But then I heard a pop. My first thought was that the bra underneath had come undone, but when I put my hand behind me, I saw that the whole zipper had popped. My kind cab driver offered to stop at the side of the road and see if he could help, but it was no use. The jig was up.
At any rate, I was a hot mess in general. I had no makeup on, and was a sweatball. Some things just aren’t meant to be!
And if my stomach keeps giving me grief, I just might end this trip early. Maybe the Universe is telling me that it’s time to go home…!
